The Garrett P.I. series is a series of mystery and fantasy novels written by author the popular American Glen Cook. The series features Garrett as a freelance private investigator. In his world, magic looks very much real and is prevalent everywhere along with the intelligent half-breed species, which coexist along with the humans in an uneasy way. There is a total of 14 novels published in the series with a few more to be published soon as the series is currently going on. Author Glen Cook began writing the series in the year 1987 and since then, he has published at least one novel every year. Cook has written the novels of the series in a film noir style, depicting elements of detective fiction and traditional mysteries. There are also many humorous dialogues in the novels of the series. The main protagonist Garrett lives in a fantasy world and undergoes many adventures to solve the mysteries. Soon, other closed ones of the Stormwarden get kidnapped, while Amiranda Crest gets murdered at the hands of the kidnappers. The situation becomes ugly and Garrett ha to flee from the scene along with his company. The remaining mystery of the plot is explained in the narrative by the Dead Man.
